Assemblies

The cheerleaders do their dance and the SBOs talk a lot. Assemblies are lame. For some reason, FJH has never really been able to put together a FUN assembly. Ever since 7th grade, I have never enjoyed our pep assemblies. The whole student body sits crammed together in a hot gym and the scent of B.O. fills the sweaty air. For the first year of school, I always thought that if I looked past the uncomfortableness and the sweaty guy sitting next to me, I would be able to watch a good assembly. That never happened and I was terribly wrong. The farther we go into the year, the worse the assemblies seem to get. Occasionally we get a really good and upbeat assembly, but most of the time it seems like the assemblies are never planned. I mean the SBOs have a whole class period every day where they can plan these things. Why aren't they using their class time to give their school an amazing assembly? No offense, I love the SBOs. In fact, most of them are my friends, but I really would like to see a good assembly before I go onto highschool. Yes, it is true, our school is completely spiritless, but if the SBOs and cheerleaders put on a good show, we would get excited and we would want to go to assemblies more and more. Who's gonna have school spirit with our lame assemblies? If you've ever sat in one of our pep assemblies, you know how enthusiastic the crowd is. Hint: they are NOT enthutsiastic. The only fun part of assemblies is watching the people squished around you criticize how bad it is. I know it sounds like I am just "hater" of school spirit, but I really want to see a awesome assembly. I want to watch the cheerleaders perform an awesome "cheer dance" and I want to watch teachers make complete fools of themselves. If the SBOs and cheerleaders really took the time and planned a fun assembly that included everybody sitting in the bleachers, I know students at FJH would get more excited for assemblies. So, if any cheerleaders or SBOs come across this blog, remember, I am not against you. Truly, I am supporting you! I hate it when I leave an assembly and feel like I just wasted a half hour of reading time. When I would rather be doing work then be in an assembly, that is when you know it's getting bad.

I hate those pep assemblies too. Especially since I had to be in one a few days ago. I was on the yearbook staff and required to go and play twister in front of the whole school, not a lot of fun if you ask me. It was nice not to be squished in the bleachers for one assembly though.

Our school definitely needs more school spirit, but at least this year they don't have the same exact assemblies as last year's assemblies. At every assembly, it was THE EXACT SAME THING!! All in all, we need more school spirit
